Applications are judged by an independent evaluation committee that reads your proposal the way an investor would, so a clear, ambitious and well-funded plan is essential.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most about the Ireland startup visa.

Can I bring my family members with me?

Yes. Your spouse and dependent children can join you, and your spouse is generally able to work in Ireland. We prepare the family documents together with your application.

Can I apply with a co-founder, and does the funding requirement double?

You can apply with co-founders. The principal founder needs at least โ‚ฌ50,000 in funding, and each co-founder is generally asked for a lower amount. We confirm the exact figures for your team.

What are the conditions for renewal and long-term residency?

Renewal depends on running your business full-time as described in your proposal and meeting the conditions of your permission. Years of residence can later support long-term residence, subject to the rules at that time.

How long does a decision take?

The Evaluation Committee meets on a quarterly basis, so a realistic time to a first decision is around three to six months. We plan your timing around the committee calendar.

Can I work for another employer?

No. The permission is for working full-time in your own business, and you cannot take other employment. If your plans change, we advise you on your options first.

Is the application fee refundable?

No. The โ‚ฌ350 fee is non-refundable, even if an application is unsuccessful, which is why we assess your proposal carefully before you submit.

Do you guarantee approval?

No one can. The final decision rests with the Irish authorities. What we do is make sure your application is complete, accurate and well prepared, which gives you the strongest possible chance.
